Challenge

To create a series of films showing education Trustees how WaterAid works as a global organisation. To support and instruct camera teams in over 10 countries including Pakistan, Malawi, Madagascar, Sweden and the United Kingdom, to collect video footage of how WaterAid’s Global Strategy is interpreted by Country Directors. These views, including user generated footage, had to show a cohesive understanding of the aims of the company, its initiative and additionally had to serve to educate WaterAid’s trustees.

Insight

Having worked with many countries, cultures and languages we knew that in terms of what would work for some people, by way of interview questions, wouldn’t work for others. To tackle this, we thought it would be important to simplify the questions and have multiple options so that the interviewers had appropriate questions. We were told that some of the camera crews were inexperienced or hadn’t used equipment at all before!

Solution

We created a document called ‘Tusko Helpful Shooting Tips’, which supported the crews in how to use a camera, how to record sound, how to light and things to remember when directing. As we always create videos with the end in mind, we added some things to think about to make the task of editing the content easier. By simplifying and unifying the questions we were able to successfully have the national organisations support the global federation vision.

“All the films have been very well received and we appreciate the work you did with some very raw footage to produce a set of engaging films.”
