FULLY INTEGRATED

We’re content creators who became an agency.

We’ve always loved stories and creating them. Especially ones that have a positive impact on how we understand the world and can inform us how to make a difference.

We realised that to effectively have the impact we wanted, we had to take the reins and incorporate many other services during our journey as an organisation. Then, one day we looked back and realised… we are fully integrated! Our model is a core team, and a hub of highly skilled, cherry-picked partners.

This model allows us to stay agile, lean and responsive to the latest and greatest developments and industry trends. We believe small teams of exceptional people can achieve great things.

Our shiny award cabinet agrees.

IMPACT AND ENGAGEMENT

It’s no good us being chuffed with the creative assets we’ve made if people don’t see them!

That’s like making a movie and not putting it in the cinema. We exist to engage and influence behaviour. We achieve this using our impact strategy which has been crafted through years of case studies and through integrating techniques and methods with knowhow. We help to establish the goals and evaluate as we go.

Throw a bucket of special sauce in there too and you’ll be closing in on our recipe list…

CREATIVE

Instead of having a rigid creative team with exclusive roles like Art Director and Designer, we create ‘herds’ of diverse creative talent.

Their background and experience are best fitted to the needs of the project or campaign. They bring backgrounds ranging from advertising, branding, UX, design, Film and TV production and distribution.

We actively encourage our team and partners to expand their skills, which in turn strengthen our herds and our work.

WHEN THEY WERE YOUNG…

While studying an arty-farty filmmaking undergrad course, the co-founders of Tusko spent many years debating the world's woes and the human condition with a drink in hand…(existential crisis followed)…

Why was the world the way it was? Why did people seem disengaged with important questions?

Why didn’t their friends seem to care about what they spoke about on BBC’s Questions Time or Newsnight?

Why weren’t the people around them talking about the current corporate scandal or social deprivation factors that contributed to the world around them, but they could recite the lyrics to their favourite Rage Against the Machine or Tupac song?

to be or not to be

They felt people often avoided talking about this proverbial ‘elephant in the room’, and just accepted the status quo. Not everyone wants to talk about all the world’s problems! Sorry guys!

Realisation: if only they could wrap up important messages in an entertaining format, people might engage with the messages… They put 2 and 2 together and understood that being on a film course they could make films about what they cared about…

THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

The elephant in the room! Since Tusko was born, we've been on a mission to work with disruptive brands and organisations to draw attention to issues which need to be spoken about, educating audiences and creating unforgettable campaigns.

Taken to mean something that needs to be spoken about, which could be issues that people ignored or didn’t know about, or disruptive brands or companies. Tusko began using powerful and majestic elephant iconography and the name Tusko; a moniker given to several notable elephants. As a bonus it was also easy to remember and spell, though on occasion the co-founders have been asked if they worked for Tesco (the supermarket).

We can confirm that they have never worked for Tesco.

Essentially working with Tusko you are becoming a part of a very special herd. We will shout so loud that your elephant won’t be ignored!

EARLY SUCCESS

Naturally we started with some film projects, which turned into award winning flagship film projects. This created a demand for Tusko’s services. We realised that change came about not only through direct action, but also through innovative initiatives and through leaders of brands that supported better ways of doing things. Tusko looked to work with other like-minded people and companies who liked to have an impact and have some fun doing just that!

With a philosophy around impact and engagement Tusko grew to a very impactful company indeed. We always took a ‘best fit’ approach to services, and now offer a fully integrated package. Our clients include the NHS, WaterAid, Global Witness, Mental Health UK, Open Bionics, TEDx, Mitie, Inked Magazine, The Architecture Centre and more…

As Tusko grew, so did our clout.

TRANSATLANTIC WORK AND CAMPAIGNS IN THE USA

As a combination of our flagship films began to lead to bigger pitch wins and more holistic full-service packages based around a content led approach, Tusko began to win pitches in the USA against East Coast agencies, namely New York and Philadelphia (we love healthy competition!)

Despite the transatlantic banter and the upsetting dumping of a load of their beloved tea in the harbour (remember…the Boston Tea Party…elephants have great memories)… despite this Tusko get on really well and love working with their American clients. So, with some great projects and campaigns to work on in the UK and the US it was all going so well… Then this happened!

COVID-19

Worse than the crash of 2008 (we hadn’t set up then), devastating to the world economy, to businesses, to human life and morale, COVID-19 was upon us.

Though it took some resilience, luckily Tusko were in a position to withstand the havoc COVID-19 wreaked. Also, we were set up to help our clients from our millennial high-powered Apple products wherever we were.

The pandemic was alerting us to one of the many elephants in the room! A combination of the human encroachment into nature, farming, open meat markets, and insufficient investment into healthcare systems around the world. It affected everyone in some way. As nations’ governments struggled to get any kind of hand on the pandemic, most businesses froze activities.

Our shooting stopped, but requests for content we had already shot rose. Companies had to restructure themselves and ‘go online’. This meant they now needed new or updated websites, digital marketing plans, advertising and more. Those plans to go online at some point in the future were happening now. The requests started to flood in.

Now more than ever, it seems people want a positive, more sustainable change. It seems that going back to business as usual won’t cut it anymore. We are here to help tackle these issues and get your voice heard.  Tusko operates on a people, planet and profit modelling.

We think all are important in business. Ignoring any of these elephants will be perilous.

As the world is thinking about coming out of lockdown, we are here to help. Take a look at the service packages we have designed to support causes, brands and businesses below. A full list of our services can also be found on our services page.
